Why won’t my computer turn on?

  1. Check the power cord is plugged into the wall and to the back of the computer

  3. Verify the power supply is turned on and that the power indicator is illuminated

  5. Verify that the power supply cables are securely plugged into the motherboard and the peripherals

  7. Verify that all cords are properly connected to the display monitor and that the monitor is switched on

  9. If available, connect a different device to confirm if its power is working

  11. If the hardware connections appear fine, check for BIOS related issue by accessing the BIOS setup

  13. If the BIOS setup is accessible, check for device configuration in the BIOS setup and perform a hardware diagnostic

  15. If the BIOS setup is not accessible, try resetting the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings to default values

  17. Check if the hardware components can be individually powered on starting with the power supply, motherboard, RAM memory, hard drive and later peripheral components
