Why is OneNote not recognizing text I’ve typed in from a scanned document?

  1. Verify you’ve performed an OCR Scan on the document
    If you haven’t already, perform an OCR scan on the document, which will convert the image of the document into a text-searchable file. Once the scan is complete, try typing in the document again.
  2. Check if the document you’re typing into is the right file type
    Make sure the document you’re typing into is a Microsoft Office format, like a Word Docx or an Excel Sheet.
  3. Check your language preferences
    Ensure that the language preferences for the document are set correctly, as if they are not, text recognition may not work.
  4. Check for content restrictions
    Determine if any sensitive material in the document might be causing content restrictions and preventing text recognition. If so, remove and re-add the text.
