Why is my Wi-Fi network constantly asking for a password?

< 1 min read

  1. Verify the Wi-Fi information. Double-check that the exact network name (SSID) and password are entered correctly.

  2. Make sure you are in range of the signal. If you are too far away from the router or if there are walls between you and the router, the connection will be weaker.

  3. Reboot your router and modem. Unplug the power to your router, modem and computer and wait two minutes. Then plug in the modem, followed by the router, then the computer.

  4. Update your router's firmware. Check the router's manufacturer website for the latest software version and follow the instructions.

  5. Remove potential interference. Routers may encounter interference from cordless phones and microwaves which use the same frequency as your router.
