Why is my Smart TV not responding to the volume control on my cable or satellite remote?

  1. Confirm that the all devices are correctly plugged in and the power is on.

  2. Check that the correct remote is being used.

  3. Check that the device does not have a mute setting enabled.

  4. Confirm that the device settings for input source and audio/video settings (including HDMI control)are correctly configured.

  5. If available, try resetting the device to factory settings.

  6. Check for any firmware updates to the device.

  7. In some cases, 3D or surround sound settings (for example 5.1 in the device settings) can interfere with basic volume control.
