Why is my printer suddenly printing faded or light prints?

  1. Examine the printer power cord and cord outlet. Ensure that the printer is plugged into a working outlet and that the power cable is securely connected to your printer.
  2. Check for Paper and Ink levels. They should both be at adequate levels. Replace or refill any supplies that may be running low or out.
  3. Examine the paper feed. Make sure that the paper you are using is of the right size and type and is clean and undamaged. Ensure that the paper is properly loaded in the paper tray.
  4. Align the Cartridge(s). Running the printer's alignment and calibration tool will fix any misalignment of your ink cartridges.
  5. Clean the Print Heads. Run the printer's cleaning or nozzle check to clean any debris or dust that may have built up in the print heads.
  6. Adjust the Printer Settings. Verify that the brightness setting of your printer is set at an appropriate level. Many times, the printer may be set to EconoMode or a similar setting that may cause faded prints.
