Why is my printer not recognized by my computer?

1. Check that the printer is turned on and has power.
2. Check that the printer is plugged into the computer or that the wireless network is connected if the printer is wireless.
3. Use the printer software to connect the printer to the computer. This can usually be found on the installation disc that came with the printer.
4. Restart both the printer and computer. This will allow the computer to recognize any hardware or software changes that have been made.
5. Check that the printer driver is installed correctly. It should be listed in the control panel of the computer and the printer settings should match that of the printer.
