Before addressing the issue, below are some possible causes and a few suggested steps for resolving the issue:
- Check the PowerPoint document’s file properties to make sure that the document has not been opened as read-only.
- To do so, right click on the file, select Properties, and under the General tab, look for the Attributes field – if Read-Only is checked, uncheck it and save the file.
- Make sure the file does not have any restricted permissions that prevent you from opening or editing the file.
- Ensure you have the appropriate version of Office and the necessary permissions to open and edit the file.
- Save the file in a new location on your computer (e.g. Desktop, Documents folder).
