Why is my laptop’s touchpad not working after a spill?

  1. Unplug the laptop from power
  2. Remove the battery and set aside
  3. Check for signs of visible damage such as discolored areas, cracks, or corrosion on the laptop
  4. Dry the laptop completely with a clean cloth or towel
  5. Replace the battery and plug in the laptop
  6. Restart the laptop
  7. Check the settings for the touchpad/trackpad in the settings menu of the laptop
  8. If settings are at default, calibrate the touchpad/trackpad using instructions from the laptop’s manufacturer
  9. Check the laptop’s touchpad/trackpad for proper functionality
