- Check if the laptop is connected to an external mouse.
- Check if the touchpad is on. This can be done by pressing the F6 key on the laptop.
- Check if there is foreign material making contact with the touchpad such as paper or cups.
- Check if the cursor is still moving by using an external mouse.
- Reboot the laptop and then check if the cursor movement is normal.
