- Check if another USB device is working on the laptop.
- If not, make sure the power cable and USB cable are securely connected to both laptop and the CD/DVD drive.
- In the Device Manager on the laptop, find the disk drives option. See if the CD/DVD drive is listed. If not, open ‘Action’ and select 'Scan for hardware changes'.
- Check if an updated version of the CD/DVD driver is available from the laptop’s manufacturer’s website and install it.
- If the drive is still not recognized, try another USB slot on the laptop or use a USB power adapter.
