1. Check the power supply is connected and the power is on
2. Make sure your laptop is not frozen or locked up and check the state of the laptop power indicator light
3. Check if your laptop is booting from an external drive
4. Check and ensure your laptop's BIOS (basic input/output system) is up to date and settings are properly configured
5. Check if your laptop is booting from an operating system disc
6. Remove all but the necessary device connected to laptop prior to booting
7. Listen for any beeps that could indicate the cause of your laptop’s slow booting
8. Check for any system error messages or prompts on the screen.
