Why is my laptop keyboard sticky?

< 1 min read

  1. Clean the keyboard surface carefully with a cloth that has been lightly dampened

  2. Once the surface is clean, use a Q-tip and an alcohol-based cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clean in between the keys

  3. Run the fingers over the keys firmly but gently to check for any sticky patches

  4. If any sticky patches remain, use low air pressure, such as from an air compressor, to gently blow between the keys in order to dislodge any dirt particles that could be present

  5. As a last resort, you may also have to remove the key altogether, clean it in the same way as above, and replace it once everything is dry
