Why is my internet slow on only one device?

< 1 min read

  1. Check router & modem connection
Check to make sure that the connections to your router and modem are secure and that no cables are loose.

  2. Restart your router & modem
Power off your router and modem, wait a minute and turn them back on. This helps to clear any data in the memory and refresh your connection.

  3. Check my device's connection
From the networks settings in your device, disconnect from your current network and attempt to reconnect.

  4. Check other devices
Check if other devices also report slow connections. If so, then it's likely due to the router or modem and not a wireless component. If other devices have no issues, the problem may lie with the specific device you're using.

  5. Determine the type of connection
If you are connected to WiFi, switch to an ethernet cable connection and see if the speed improves. If the speeds are the same then it's likely related to the signal from the service provider or your router and modem settings.
