Why is my internet connection not working on my remote desktop connection?

< 1 min read

Troubleshooting a broken internet connection on remote desktop connections can be frustrating. Here are a few steps you can take to try and identify the root cause and restore your connection:

  1. Check your modem and router to ensure both are powered up and all the cables are connected.

  2. Ensure the host machine is also connected to the internet.

  3. Check the Firewall configuration to make sure it is not blocking the remote desktop connection.

  4. Restart your machine and modem/router. Allow the machine and modem/router to initialise before attempting to reconnect.

  5. Check if the remote desktop connection is disabled. If it is, enable it.

  6. Try different browsers or web-client solutions to rule out any browser-specific issues.
If none of the above work, contact your internet provider to check if there is a connection issue with the network.
