Why is my email going to my Junk folder even though it’s not marked as spam in Exchange?

< 1 min read

Here’s a list of steps you can take to troubleshoot your issue:

  1. Check the sender’s email address. Ensure the email address is legitimate and associated with a domain that is in your accepted domains list.

  2. Check the message content. Depending on your company’s message hygiene configuration, certain keywords may flag the message as suspicious and redirect it to the Junk E-mail folder.

  3. Check the message header. Ensure there are no line-wrapping errors as a result of header truncation.

  4. Check the message rules. Ensure there are no transport rules defined in your organization that may prevent the message from being delivered to the Inbox.

  5. Check the recipient’s Junk E-mail settings. If the recipient has added the sender to their Safe Senders List, the message will bypass the Junk E-mail filter.

  6. Check the message history. Ensure the message was never sent to the Junk E-mail folder before.
