Why is my email being sent with an incorrect time stamp in Outlook for Exchange?

< 1 min read

1. Check your computer or device local time is correctly set.
2. Check your regional Outlook time zone settings match your device’s local time.
3. Check the time zone settings under the account setting through Outlook.
4. If those settings were all correct, you can turn off and then turn back on the synchronization between Outlook and Exchange to sync the settings:

  1. Go to ‘File’ in Outlook and select ‘Account settings’.
  2. Choose the account name and click ‘Change’.
  3. Choose the check box next to ‘Use Cached Exchange Mode’ and then click ‘Next’.
  4. Uncheck the ‘Download shared folders’ check box and then click ‘Next’.
  5. Uncheck the ‘Use Cached Exchange Mode’ check box and then click ‘Next’ and then ‘Finish’.
5. If you still encounter the incorrect time stamp issue, you should check with your IT admin to confirm server side time settings in your organization.
