Why is my Active Directory user not able to access a shared folder?

  1. Check Permissions on the Shared Folder: Make sure the user has the correct permissions to access the shared folder.

  2. Confirm Network Services are Running Confirm network services such as Domain Name System (DNS) and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) are running.

  3. Check Network Connectivity Verify that the network firewall between the user’s computer and the shared folder is not blocking the connection.

  4. Verify User is Logged into Domain Verify the username that is attempting to access the shared folder is logged into the domain and the permissions are set accordingly.
