- Check Server Status – Make sure the server is powered on and check the connection is established, by running the
ping
command on the server’s IP address. - Check Firewall Settings – Check the server’s firewall settings to make sure the appropriate ports are open for Domain Name System (DNS) requests.
- Check Name Resolution – Use the
nslookup
utility to check the server name is properly resolving to the IP address. - Check Zone Settings – Verify the server’s zone settings in the DNS Manager console.
- Check Logs – Review the error logs in the DNS Manager console and Event Viewer to look for clues about why the server is not responding.
