Here are some things that you can do to troubleshoot why your numbered lists are not starting at number 1:

1. Check your list’s starting number – Start your list at number 1 by typing
   into the HTML.
   1. Verify the numbering scheme of the list – If you created a numbered list, make sure all items have the same starting number and follow the same decimal scheme (i.e. 1, 1.1, 1.1.1).
   2. Look for other styles applied to the list – Check for any styles that are being applied to the list. CSS can override the list’s default numbering scheme.
   3. Check for nested lists – Make sure all nested lists are set to start at number 1.
