Why are my changes not saving in a SharePoint list or library?

  1. Check the list or library settings. Are major versions enabled? Is content approval required?

  2. Check list or library permissions together with the permission level a user has been assigned.

  3. Check the item content. Is it compatible with the template? Are mandatory fields filled in?

  4. Check the item version. Is it the most recent version? Are major versions required?
