Why am I unable to view or access files on the shared drive remotely?

< 1 min read

  1. Reestablish Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection:
Connect to the remote server (or working server/PC) using a secure, encrypted connection. It is advised to use a secure virtual private network (VPN) in order to ensure security and privacy when accessing the remote shared drive.

  2. Verify access permissions:
Make sure that you have been granted the correct permissions from the administrative team (or IT Department) in order to access the remote shared drive.

  3. Check Network Status:
Check the current network conditions and verify the status of servers and/or computers connected to the remote network. Make sure that all network components (e.g. routers, switches, firewalls) and services (e.g. Active Directory, authentications systems) are functioning properly.

  4. Troubleshoot user account:
Verify that the user credentials used to access the remote network are accurate. In case of authentication or authorization errors related to user credentials, consider resetting the password.
