Why am I unable to open or modify files on the shared drive from a different device?

  1. Check if you have the correct permissions to edit or create files on the shared drive.
  2. Log out and back in to the account with the correct permissions.
  3. Check to make sure that the computer or device you are working on has a compatible application or program to open the file.
  4. Check to make sure the file type extends to the originating computer or device.
  5. Check to make sure you are working from the correct directory or folder.
  6. Verify with your network administrator that the file is accessible by the computer or device you are working from.
