Why am I unable to change the default document template for a library in SharePoint?

  1. Check that you have the correct permissions to change the default template.
  2. Go to the Document Library Settings of the library you want to change.
  3. Click Advanced Settings.
  4. On the Advanced Settings page, scroll to the Document Template section.
  5. Enter Document Template Address, then click OK.
