< 1 min read

In order to transfer the relative ID allocation pool role in an Active Directory child domain, the following steps must be taken:

  1. Make sure to log in as a Domain Administrator

  2. Run the ForestPrep command:
  3. This will update the schema of the current forest, which is necessary to create a new domain.

  4. Run the DomainPrep command:
  5. This will update the domains with the necessary rights and privileges for your domain’s operations.

  6. Create an RID Pool
  7. This will give you the ability to assign unique security identifiers in that domain.

  8. Migrate the RID allocation pool role
  9. This will transfer the relative ID allocation pool role in the Active Directory child domain.
