Why am I not able to create a group chat on Teams?

Here are some steps you can take to create a group chat on Teams:


  1. Install the Microsoft Teams app. Make sure you have the correct version of the Teams app to be able to create group chats.

  2. Sign in to your account. Use your organizational ID or email address to sign in to your Microsoft account. Make sure you're logged in with the right account to ensure you have the correct access.

  3. Create a new chat. Click on Chats in the left sidebar and then click on New Chat. You'll be able to create a new chat with up to 250 participants.

  4. Invite people to join the chat. After you've created the chat, you'll be able to add people to it. You can add individuals, or create a group chat with multiple participants. Invite anyone you'd like to join the chat.

  5. Start chatting. Once everyone has been invited, you can start talking in the group chat. You can share files, photos, documents and much more.
