If your email account has been hacked:

1. Immediately change your password and security questions
2. Check the settings to see which applications have access to your account and review the account activity
3. Notify your contacts that you have been hacked and any messages or emails they received were not from you
4. Run a scan of your system and other devices for any malware and viruses
5. Keep an eye on your financial statements for any suspicious charges or activity
