Social engineering is a type of online attack that relies more on psychological manipulation than technical hacking skills. Attackers will usually attempt to deceive, influence, or manipulate victims into doing something they would not normally do. It can occur over email, text messages, calls, or by other means.How to Protect Yourself from Social Engineering Attacks:

1. Be aware that attackers can attempt to manipulate your decisions.
2. Do not give out confidential information such as passwords or bank account numbers unless you trust the source.
3. If you receive an email, instant message, or other digital communication that asks for confidential information, verify the request before sending any information.
4. Research the website and its domain. If you are unsure of the validity of the website, contact the sender through another means.
5. Disable automatic login on websites, and instead use two-factor authentication.
6. Pay attention to spelling and grammar errors in messages from unknown sources.
7. Be aware of phishing attacks. Ensure that any links or attachments you open are from a trusted source.
8. Do not click on unexpected pop-ups or open suspicious attachments.
