What is a keylogger and how can I protect against it?

< 1 min read

A keylogger is a type of malicious software that records and stores keystrokes and other activities on a computer. To protect against keyloggers, it is recommended to:

  1. Install and regularly update antivirus software – Using antivirus software can detect and remove any keyloggers that could be installed on your system.
  2. Use two-factor authentication – When possible, use two-factor authentication when logging into websites or applications, in which a one-time code is required to access an account.
  3. Pay attention to what you're downloading – Be careful when opening email attachments or downloading software from unknown sources, as they could potentially contain a keylogger.
  4. Secure your queries in a search engine – Don't type sensitive information directly into a search engine, as this could leave you vulnerable to a keylogger.
