What do I do if my email account has been hacked?

  1. Change your Password
    Immediately change the password for your email account, and make sure it is secure and difficult to guess.
  2. Enable 2 Factor Authentication
    If your email provider offers 2 factor authentication, turn it on. This adds an extra layer of protection to help secure your account.
  3. Check for strange emails or outgoing emails
    Make sure there are no new or suspicious emails in your inbox, and check if any emails were sent that you did not authorize.
  4. Check for unfamiliar devices
    Find out if there are any new devices linked to your email account and disconnect them if they are not yours
  5. Contact your email provider
    Let your email provider know about the hacking incident and they may be able to provide extra security measures for your account.
