To use the TRIM or CLEAN functions in Excel:

1. Select the cell or range of cells that has text containing extra spaces.
2. Enter the appropriate function in the formula bar.
3. Make sure to enter the range of cells in the parentheses.
4. Press Enter to complete the function.
5. The edited cells will now only display the necessary text.
