Using LEFT, RIGHT, or MID Function in Excel:
Verify that all data is in the same column (excel only allows these functions to be used in one cell)
Identify the characters that you wish to retain from the cells.
Choose the starting position and the number of characters.
Input the function into a blank cell and use it on multiple selected cells (to do this, drag the lower right corner of the blank cell).
Double check the results generated by the function.
