To transfer the infrastructure master role in an Active Directory child domain:

1. Connect to the domain controller in the child domain by using an account that is a member of the Domain Admins group in the parent domain, or an account that is a member of the Enterprise Admins group.

   
   

2. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.

   
   

3. On the child domain controller, right-click the NTDS Settings folder, and then click Properties.

   
   

4. Select the Override tab in the Properties dialog box, and then click the Yes option.

   
   

5. Click the Browse button and select the domain controller on which you want to transfer the infrastructure master role.

   
   

6. Click OK.
