To replace a laptop keyboard, follow these steps:
- Turn off the laptop and unhook the power. Shut down the computer, disconnect the power adapter from the laptop, and remove the battery from the bottom of the device.
- Remove existing keyboard. Undo the screws that are on the bottom of the laptop beneath the keyboard or along the sides of the laptop.
- Clean the surface of the laptop. Before attaching the new keyboard, use a compressed air can or small vacuum to clean the laptop's surface beneath the keyboard.
- Attach the new keyboard. Slide the new keyboard into the free space located in the laptop and firmly push it into the space.
Then, tie the screws or hook the keyboard into place with the clips that were attached to the bottom of the laptop. - Boot up the laptop and test the new keyboard. Attach the power adapter, make sure the battery is inserted, and boot up the laptop. Type on the new keyboard to make sure all keys are working correctly.
