How do I fix a laptop with a damaged charger port?

< 1 min read

1. Unplug the laptop and all peripherals if you haven’t done so already.
2. Check your power adapter to make sure that it is properly connected into an active socket and to the laptop.
3. If you are using a laptop cooler, disconnect it and check the temperature of the laptop while it rests on a flat, stable surface.
4. Try gently jiggling the power cord or adapter that is inserted into the laptop’s damaged port.
5. If your laptop has a removable battery, try separating the battery from the laptop and using just the power adapter to power the laptop.
6. If the laptop still does not charge properly, it is likely that the power port has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
