< 1 min read

Follow these steps to help reduce laptop overheating:

  1. Clean any dust or dirt from the fans, vents, and heat sink.
  2. Check the temperature in BIOS/UEFI settings to see if it is already set to overheat protection.
  3. Close unnecessary tabs and applications.
  4. Make sure programs and windows are up-to-date.
  5. Attempt to add additional fans, if applicable.
  6. Use a laptop cooling pad.
  7. Reduce the laptop’s performance setting.
  8. Allow airflow around the laptop, by placing it on a flat, non-carpeted surface.
