How do I detect and remove spyware from my device?

< 1 min read

  1. Perform a scan with updated anti-spyware software
Not all devices come with anti-virus and anti-spyware programs installed, so if the device does not have it, install the free version of anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Make sure the program is up-to-date. Run a full scan on the device with anti-spyware software and delete the detected objects.
  2. Check system processes
Check the list of processes running on the device for unknown processes. Inspect them to see if they appear suspicious. Patches should typically appear as having a random string of characters, numbers, and letters.
  3. Install a pop-up blocker
Some spyware and breaches of privacy occur through unsolicited pop-ups. For added protection, install a free, effective pop-up blocker.
  4. Be wary of suspicious emails
Do not open any email attachments if they come from unknown or suspicious sources. Additionally, pay attention to the email address and to the text of the email to spot any suspicious signs.
