How do I create a recovery drive for my laptop?

< 1 min read

Create a recovery drive for your laptop as follows:

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into your laptop.

  2. Back up your files.
Make sure to back up your files to a local drive or other removable media as your personal files, applications, and settings will be erased when you reset your laptop.

  3. Open the start menu. Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of your screen. Then, type Create a recovery drive in the search bar and press enter.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. The recovery drive wizard will open. Follow the instructions provided by the wizard to create the recovery drive.

  5. Label the USB drive. Once you have created the recovery drive, make sure to label it with Recovery (date) in order to easily distinguish it from other USB drives.
