How do I change the owner of a SharePoint site?

To change the owner of a SharePoint site, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the SharePoint admin center.
  2. Find the SharePoint site in the list and select it.
  3. In the Overview tab, select the Change link next to the Owner section.
  4. In the Change Ownership window, enter the user ID or email address you want to use for the newsite owner.
  5. Click OK to save.
  6. The new owner will receive an email notification that they have been set as the owner of a new site.
