Here are the steps you can take to change your computer’s default web browser using the registry editor:
- Identify the default browser application path & GUID
- Open the registry editor & locate the set of keys for the browser you’d like to set as default
- Navigate to the inherent key, click
Default
, & make sure its value is set to the proper application value - Create a new string value under the browser key you have selected
- Name the new string value
Progid
- Set the value of the new string to one of the default application values corresponding to the browser you have chosen.
