How to add custom categories to assignments in Microsoft Classroom

Go to the Classwork page, and click the assignment you want to add a custom category to.
On the assignment page, click More options, and then select Edit
Click Advanced Options and select Categories
Choose an existing category or create a new one. Then click Save
