1. Check the modem's power light to see if it is on.
2. Check the modem’s network light to see if it is active.
3. If there is no activity, reset the modem.
4. Find the IP address that is assigned to the modem, and make sure it is within the same subnet mask as the router.
5. Attempt to open a website.
