How do I fix a broken or unresponsive touchpad?

< 1 min read

1. Check your mouse settings: Make sure that the touchpad settings are enabled.
2. Restart your laptop: In many cases, restarting your laptop can fix the issue.
3. Clean the touchpad: Remove anything blocking the touchpad’s sensors and give it a good cleaning with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Be gentle to avoid damaging the touchpad.
4. Check the device manager: Find and open the device manager in the Control Panel and look for the touchpad. If there is a yellow triangle next to the touchpad, then the driver is out of date. Update it.
5. Reinstall the driver: If updating the driver does not solve the issue directly, you may need to reinstall the touchpad driver.
6. Replace the touchpad: If all of the above steps have failed, then you may need to replace the touchpad.
