Why is my internet connection not working on my new computer?

It’s possible that your computer may not be properly connected to the internet. If this is the case, here are a few steps you should take to troubleshoot the issue:


  1. Check your Network Connections: Ensure that the proper cables are securely connected from your modem/router to your computer.
  2. Run Network Troubleshooter: For Windows users, run the Network Troubleshooter to attempt at diagnosing network related issues.
  3. Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings: Check the settings of your antivirus/firewall programs and ensure that they are accepting and authorized to access the internet.
  4. Reboot your Modem: Unplug your modem and router for a few minutes and then plug them back in. This can often times fix many internet connection issues.
  5. Check Network Status: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to ensure that your internet service plan is up and running.
