Why is my internet connection not working on my Mac?

Here is a list of steps you can take to troubleshoot your internet connection on your Mac:


  1. Ensure cables are in securely and the router/modem is powered on.
  2. Reset your router/modem by unplugging the power, waiting a few moments, and plugging it back in.
  3. Restart your Mac by clicking the Apple logo in the upper left-hand corner and restarting your computer.
  4. Update your Mac software via the Apple menu.
  5. Open Airport Utility from your Applications folder to check your router’s connection.
  6. Confirm your internet serice provider is not reporting any outages or disruption.
