Why won’t my Bluetooth device pair with my phone?

< 1 min read

  1. Check if the device is discoverable
Make sure the device is set to be discoverable, meaning it can be seen by other Bluetooth devices. On iOS devices this is done by going to the Settings app, and then selecting Bluetooth.

  2. Check if the Bluetooth device was connected before
If you've connected the Bluetooth device to your phone before, you may need to forget the device and reset up a connection. On iOS devices, go to Settings > Bluetooth, and then select the i next to the paired Bluetooth device.

  3. Check the distance between the device
Try to keep the device close to your phone. Bluetooth technology works best within a short distance – 10 feet or less.

  4. Check to make sure both devices are compatible
Some new Bluetooth devices may be incompatible with older versions of Bluetooth. Check your phone and device to make sure their Bluetooth versions are compatible.
