Why is my laptop’s keyboard not working after spilling liquid on it?

< 1 min read

If you have spilled liquid on your laptop’s keyboard, here is a list of steps you should take in order to help save it:

  1. Disconnect the laptop from any power sources and remove the battery if possible.

  2. Carefully wipe away any excess liquid from the areas around the keys with a dry cloth.

  3. Lay the laptop upside down with its keyboard facing downward in order to drain out as much liquid as possible.

  4. Leave the laptop in this position for at least 24-48 hours until it is completely dry.

  5. Once the laptop is dry, slowly put the battery back and turn on the laptop. If the laptop does not turn on, contact a professional technician.
