- Check your device drivers
Your laptop’s touchpad may be jumping around because of outdated, invalid or underperforming drivers. Check to make sure your device drivers are up-to-date and functioning correctly. - Clear your laptop’s vent areas
In order to avoid overheating, regularly clean out dust and debris from your laptop’s vent areas to allow air to flow freely. If your laptop is excessively overheating, this can cause your laptop’s touchpad to malfunction. - Check your laptop’s background processes
If your laptop’s background processes are overloading your processor, it can cause your touchpad to act erratically. Check to ensure that programs/applications are not running in the background that are using up too much of your computer’s resources. - Troubleshoot the touchpad itself
You can restart the touchpad and make sure that the touchpad settings are set correctly. Also make sure that the touchpad is not turned off through a physical switch or through the Windows/macOS settings.
