Why is my laptop not detecting a connected USB device?

  1. Check that the USB port is in working condition: Inspect the USB port and check that it is not too dirty, corroded, or damaged.
  2. Restart the laptop: Reboot the laptop to make sure that it is detected properly by the system.
  3. Check for BIOS or Firmware issues: Check that the BIOS settings are correct or not corrupted and the Firmware of the laptop is up-to-date.
  4. Connect and disconnect the USB device several times: If the connection is not continuous, try reconnecting the USB device multiple times.
  5. Install the drivers: Install the appropriate drivers for the USB device if necessary.
  6. Test on another laptop: Try connecting the USB device to another known working laptop to check if the issue is from the device or laptop itself.
