Social engineering is an attack vector that exploits human interaction to gain access to restricted information. It is based on manipulating people into divulging information or performing certain actions, usually by exploiting their trust, curiosity, or naivety.

• Be suspicious of unsolicited calls, visits, emails and social media messages.
• Never provide personal information such as your password, birth date or Social Security number to someone you don’t know.
• Never provide access to computer systems without verifying the identity of the requestor.
• Verify the identity of the person that initiated the request.
• Verify the validity of any requested information, data, or action.
• Always use strong passwords and change them periodically.
