How do I insert page numbers with a different format on odd and even pages?

  1. Step 1
    Determine whether page number width is constant (number length is the same) or variable (number length can vary).
  2. Step 2
    Select a type of page numbering system. Will the page numbers start at a certain value or the page numbers with be continuous?
  3. Step 3
    Create an Odd Pages Section Break to establish a format for page numbers on odd pages.
  4. Step 4
    Change the Page Number FOrmat in the Odd Pages Section to the desired format.
  5. Step 5
    Create an Even Pages Section Break to establish a format for page numbers on even pages.
  6. Step 6
    Change the Page Number Format in the Even Pages Section to the desired format.
